**UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, PASSPORT ACCEPTANCE SERVICES ARE BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.**

Syracuse City Recorder’s Office is a Passport Acceptance facility designated by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Consular Affairs.

Passport Hours

Processing hours are from 9 to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday (closed major holidays). Please call to schedule an appointment during these hours. Please arrive prior to 4 p.m. for same-day application processing. Applicants are encouraged to complete all application forms prior to arriving at City Hall.

  • All applicants must appear in person at time of application.
  • Applications for children 16 and 17 years of age require the presence and signature of one parent.

Applications for children under 16 require the presence and signature of both parents. If the second parent is not available to sign, the appearing parent must present evidence that he/she has:

  • Notarized written consent of the other parent for the issuance of the passport Form DS-3053
  • Sole legal custody of the child
  • Written statement explaining why non-applying parent's consent cannot be obtained
