School Resource Officers, also known as SRO’s, are officers with specialized training in school policing. These officers are assigned to a school full time, and they work closely with school administrations to provide a safe environment for the students and staff. SRO’s perform proactive patrols throughout the campus, aid in school emergency planning and response, and they handle any criminal incident that takes place at the school. In addition to their law enforcement duties, SRO’s are responsible for interacting with students as they strive to help solve problems and be a resource for everyone on campus. Furthermore, SRO’s act as a liaison between the school and our Department.

Syracuse City partners with Davis School District to have officers assigned to Syracuse High School and Syracuse Junior High School. Sergeant Ryan Carter is the School Resource Unit Supervisor and crossing guards supervisor.  Officer Lance Call is the SRO at Syracuse Junior High.  Officer Kayleb Kester is assigned as the SRO at Syracuse High School.

These three officers are available during normal school hours and may be contacted through the respective schools or police department.

For more information regarding our SRO’s, please contact our Department.
