2021 General Election Meet the Candidates Event

Election information image

The Utah League of Women Voters is hosting a "Meet the Candidates" event for Syracuse Mayor and City Council candidates. The League is a non-partisan organization that does not endorse or support candidates or political parties.  Their mission is to help voters make informed voting decisions by providing an opportunity for all candidates to meet the public and answer the same questions so the public can compare candidates.  The event will begin at 6:30 p.m. with a meet and greet, and move to a question and answer panel from 7:00 p.m. to approximately 8:15 p.m. The event will be a hybrid in-person/virtual event utilizing Zoom and streaming to YouTube to draw a wider audience. The League will provide an experienced moderator and will ask for suggested questions ahead of time from City Administration, candidates, and the public. To make the event fair for every candidate, they will ask all candidates the same group of questions (approximately six questions with 2-minute answers), with the candidates rotating in order so each will get the chance to be the first to answer a question. Each candidate will also be given time for a 2-minute introduction and 30-second conclusion.  To submit a question for candidates to answer, please email City Recorder, Cassie Brown, cassieb@syracuseut.com. Zoom participation will be allowed via the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82100592231 . You can also watch the live stream of the event on the Syracuse City YouTube Channel.
