Golden Barrett is a native of Utah and began his public service career in 1996 as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. He spent 20 Years with Hill AFB Fire Department, where he reached the rank of Battalion Chief. In 2019, Golden accepted the position of Syracuse Fire Department Fire Marshal.
Golden is a faculty member at Utah Valley University, where he is a Certification Tester, teaches Hazardous Materials Response, Incident Command System, Apparatus Driver Operator and is a Live Fire Instructor. Golden’s educational experience consists of an A.S. in Fire Science from UVU, a B.S. in Occupational Safety and Health with an emphasis in fire safety from Columbia Southern University. Golden lives in Syracuse, Utah, with his wife and three children.
Mr. Barrett enjoys spending his free time with his family hiking, biking and exploring the many national parks in Utah. He also likes to garden and is a hobby beekeeper.
